DSA 2016: Korean AAVs destined for Philippines

The Philippines has, for a long time, been seeking new amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) to equip the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).

It appears South Korea's Hanwha Techwin is in the box seat to fulfil this requirement.

The PMC, which falls under the auspices of the Philippine Navy (PN), is seeking eight AAVs. Hanwha's bid of PHP2.423 billion ($52.6 million) fell within the PHP2.5 billion allotted to this project.

Shephard understands Hanwha Techwin was declared the single calculated bidder, and was subsequently given a notice of award. An integrated logistics support package is included in the contract sum.
