D&S 2017: Indonesia orders NASAMS to protect capital

Kongsberg announced on 31 October that it had signed a contract with Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence to supply the ground-based NASAMS air defence system.

The deal is valued at $77 million and encompasses one system comprising ‘command posts, radars, launchers, radios and integration, training and logistics support,’ according to a press release.

Raytheon-built AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) for the medium-range air defence system will be supplied separately via a direct government-to-government sale with the US.

No mention was made of delivery dates for Indonesia, which is presumably buying the latest NASAMS 2 variant.
