D&S 2015: Thai mobilises artillery
Thailand is continuing attempts at modernising and making its ageing 105mm and 155mm artillery inventory more mobile via three programmes initiated by the Weapon Production Centre (WPC), a division of the Ministry of Defence.
The WPC displayed scale models and video of the truck-mounted M425 105mm L/37 howitzer at Defence & Security 2015 in Bangkok. ‘We put it on a truck to give the weapon a faster response,’ a spokesman explained to Shephard. Its mechanical design is completed and it has been test-fired.
