DRS announces new US, Canadian contracts
DRS Technologies has been awarded three contracts to provide equipment to US Navy vessels and submarines and the Canadian Army.
The company signed a $100 million contract with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada concerning the production of surveillance systems for Canadian LAV 6.0 armoured vehicles produced by General Dynamics. The eight-year agreement includes the supply of long-range, mast mounted surveillance suites and service support within the army's Light Armoured Vehicle – Reconnaissance Surveillance System project.
DRS Technologies also signed two indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreements with the US Navy with a potential ceiling value of about $440 million.
The first order has a potential ceiling value of $384 million and includes development, production and integration of electronic equipment to modernise systems currently installed on various submarine classes. DRS is a prime contractor for this project.
The second agreement has a potential ceiling value of $55 million and will see DRS modernise the integrated voice communications systems of the navy's Aegis cruisers and destroyers.
