DRS demonstrates infrared detectors to defence contractors
DRS Technologies has successfully demonstrated its 10-micron pixel pitch infrared detector to select defence industry contractors, the company announced on 21 April.
During the demonstrations, DRS showcased its sensor with an ultra-high resolution, 1280x1024 thermal camera and arrays of 320x256 and 640x512.
According to the company, the demonstrations proved that the performance capabilities of the sensor were better than 50mK noise equivalent temperature difference, which is a standard for most uncooled infrared products at present.
Greg Christison, senior director of commercial infrared systems, DRS, said: ‘In the race to smaller pixel pitch and lower cost products among manufacturers of infrared detectors, 10-micron technology puts DRS significantly ahead of its competitors.
‘We maintain this position of leadership through continuous innovation and a commitment to ensuring that the product performance DRS is known for is not compromised for lower cost solutions.’
