DefExpo 2016: Say hello to Tata combat vehicles
The development of Tata Motors' Kestrel is progressing with flotation and mobility trials now completed.
The 8x8 Kestrel is India’s first indigenous wheeled combat vehicle. It was developed in conjunction with the state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) within a period of about 18 months. The amphibious platform was launched in 2014.
It was originally created with United Nations peacekeeping missions in mind, which necessitated high levels of capability and protection, according to Ashish Chandrawanshi, Tata’s assistant general manager of marketing for military vehicles.
