Dana to supply key JLTV components
Dana has announced that it will supply its Spicer central tire inflation system (CTIS) and the thermal bypass valve for Oshkosh's Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for the US Army and US Marine Corps.
The Spicer CTIS is designed to improve all-wheel-drive traction and off-road mobility. The system enables all four tyres on the vehicle to inflate or deflate quickly to the tyre pressure appropriate for the terrain. The Spicer CTIS uses integrated mechatronic control unit that identifies and reacts to tyre-inflation issues by enabling individual wheel control.
The thermal bypass valve prevents partially warmed or cold oils from leaving powertrain components such as the transmission. Internal circulation of vehicle oils keeps thermal energy from dissipating to improve efficiency.
Mark Wallace, executive vice president, Dana and group president of on-highway driveline technologies, Dana, said: 'For more than a century, Dana has supplied critical components for the US military that our troops can rely on. We value the trust that Oshkosh has put in Dana's reputation for reliability and durability.'
