Brazil receives initial modernised AAVs
The first two modernised AAV7A1 tracked amphibious armoured assault vehicles for the Brazilian Navy Marine Corps arrived at the port of Santos in State of São Paulo, Brazil, on 31 May.
A total of 23 are being modernised in the US by BAE Systems Platforms & Services to the AAV7A1 RAM/RS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard) standard.
The initial vehicles, which are locally designated as CLAnf (Carro Lagarta Anfíbio), consisted of one AAVC-7A1 RAM/RS troop carrier (CLAnf P) and one AAVC-7A1 RAM/RS command post (CLAnf C).
The vehicles were previously fielded by the US Marine Corps.
