BAE and Rheinmetall enter tank battle
BAE Systems and Rheinmetall have both been selected to start the competitive assessment phase for the Challenger 2 Life Extension Programme (CR2 LEP), it was announced on 22 December.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated that both teams will be awarded £23 million to move forward with the project.
The MoD revealed that the total value of the Challenger 2 Assessment Phase is £53 million, including both assessment phase contracts and a further £7 million to cover additional work.
With this BAE Systems and Rheinmetall will undertake technical studies, produce detailed digital models and explore integration of the upgrades
