Babcock International Group has signed an agreement with Hobson Industries to support and maintain the British Army’s fleet of ageing Land Rover Wolf light vehicles.
Babcock, a major provider of support for the army’s vehicles, has been providing the through-life support and management for 60% of the fleet in an effort to ensure the availability of British Army vehicles such as the Land Rover Wolf platform.
Hobson Industries, a technical engineering business specialising in the through-life support of the Land Rover Defender (Wolf) platform, will draw upon the combined experience of Babcock’s maintenance and repair capabilities and its own knowledge of the Wolf platform.
With an initial focus on the Land Rover Wolf, the partnership will look for technical solutions in the areas of design, manufacture, remanufacturing and repair in order to increase the availability of assets for the front-line commands, increase reliability and cost-effective solutions for the army.
The effort to keep the current fleet of British Army vehicles available in the face of obsolescence, including the Land Rover fleet, has proved to be an important effort due to LMP being delayed. LMP will look to replace more than a dozen vehicle types with three different classes.
