AUSA 2019: New Javelin launch unit on road to fielding in 2023

Raytheon Missile Systems expects to go to low-rate initial production (LRIP) for its new Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Unit (CLU) in 2021 and full rate production in 2022. The company sees the new CLU as a generational change which will also provide reconnaissance capability and control Stinger as well as Javelin missiles.

In 2021 the company will take LRIP variants of CLU into the field to test behaviours but the company is currently still in design verification and testing as well as separate testing of systems such as launch motors and electronics is underway.
