AUSA 2018: US Army downselects for Sub-Compact Weapon programme

Six contractors have been selected to provide the US Army with sub-compact weapon (SCW) prototypes for testing, as the service looks to acquire a new highly-concealable 9x19mm weapon for personal security details.

The six companies awarded contracts – known as a Prototype Other Transaction Authority (OTA) – by the US Army’s Project Manager Soldier Weapons includes Global Ordnance, Angstadt Arms, B&T USA, Shield Arms, Sig Sauer and Trident Rifles.

The contracts were all awarded in September and amount to around $30,000 each.

These Prototype OTA's will be for the delivery of a functional SCW system along with accessories and spare
