The Russian Navy has received two new Raptor patrol boats from Pella Shipyard of St Petersburg, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced on 11 October.

The boats are the latest within a series of 14 units on order for the Russian defence forces. All vessels have been distributed and commissioned into the Baltic, Black Sea Fleets and Caspian Flotilla.

The highly manoeuvrable Raptor patrol boats are equipped for a wide range of tasks, including patrol, detection and interception of small targets, SAR and troop transport for up to 20 personnel.

The vessels will operate day and night within coastal zones, straits and estuaries during ice-free periods, at ranges of up to 100 miles from station.
