Poland prioritises submarines as industry details bids

Polish government officials highlighted the procurement of new submarines under the Orka programme as one of the top military priorities for the nation during MSPO 2018.

Despite this timelines are still to be determined and the Easter European nation could soon be faced with a capability gap in the Baltic Sea as it continues to decommission old boats without a new alternative.

The three contenders for the programme, Naval Group, Saab and Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) all detailed their bids and how they will involve Polish industry to Shephard during the event.
