Lockheed awarded Aegis integration work

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $50.3 million contract modification to exercise options for ship integration and testing of the Aegis Weapon System (AWS) for the US Navy. 

This covers shipboard integration engineering, Aegis test team support, Aegis modernisation team engineering support, ballistic missile defence test team support, Aegis Ashore support, and AWS element assessments for Advanced Capability Build (ACB) 16. 

This is for nine new DDG 51-class destroyer and the major modernisation of seven more, and will additionally cover integrated combat system modifications and upgrades for all current ships with all AWS baselines up to and including ACB 16. 

Work will be carried out at various sites across the US, and is expected to complete by September 2024. 

The Naval Sea Systems Command based in Washington, DC, is the contracting activity for the award.
