IDEX 2017: Baynunah-class upgrades arms
The UAE has awarded US missile manufacturer, Raytheon, a contract for its Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Block 2 interceptors.
The value of the contract and the number of systems it will provide has not been disclosed. This is essentially an upgrade in the type of missiles as he UAE Navy has six Baynunah-class corvettes that are already fitted with the Mk49 guided missile launchers that fire Raytheon's RAM Block 1 system. Each launcher has 21 cells for the missiles.
