Greece’s P-3B aircraft to receive upgrades
Chassis Plans (CP) Technologies has received a contract to modernise and update the mission control computers in the P-3B Orion aircraft used by Greece's Hellenic Navy and Air Force.
CP Technologies received the contract in 2018 for the prototype and will now continue to support the fleet's seven-year modernisation plan. The upgrade is being carried out under a foreign military sale with the US government.
As part of the ISR consoles onboard the aircraft, the CP Technologies’ mission computer is designed to offer advanced computing technology in order to accommodate new ISR capabilities in challenging environments, including map rendering, GPS tracking and sensor and surveillance data analysis.
The unit is a fully sealed, convection cooled system that offers a high-performance balance of CPU/GPU processing. It is certified to operate under extreme environmental conditions including electromagnetic interference, temperature ranges as low as -40C and as high as +70C, as well as extreme shock and vibration profiles.
The P-3 Orion is a maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft used for homeland security, anti-piracy operations, humanitarian relief, search and rescue, intelligence gathering, antisubmarine warfare and and to assist in air traffic control and natural disaster relief support.Related Equipment in Defence Insight
