Fincantieri cuts steel for fourth Italian PPA
Fincantieri has cut steel for the Italian Navy’s fourth Multipurpose Patrol Ship (PPA) at its shipyard in Riva Trigoso, Genova.
The vessel will be the first PPA built in full configuration, able to operate in all warfare roles including anti-air, anti-submarine and anti-surface.
The ship is scheduled to be delivered in April 2024.
The project as a whole calls for the construction of a range of units, including seven PPAs, one multipurpose landing helicopter dock and one logistic support ship.
