AWD Alliance: Destroyer programme ‘on schedule’
During a recent visit by Shephard to the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance in South Australia, officials assured that construction of three destroyers for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) is on schedule.
After the schedule was reset following an independent review published in June 2014, ships 1 and 2 (Hobart and Brisbane) are on schedule, while ship 3 (Sydney) is ahead of the construction curve. The new baselines represented delays of 15, 18 and 21 months respectively for the three AWDs.
