West: Navy cyber chief outlines goals

The US Navy is on ‘cyber journey’ to safeguard freedom of action in an ever-changing world, according to Vice Ad Jan Tighe, commander of US Fleet Cyber Command / US 10th Fleet.

In her presentation at AFCEA West 2015, Tighe provided an outline of her five goals for the navy’s cyber organisations and capabilities in the future.

Tighe said that ‘the nature of cyber operations’ means that cyber defenders ‘can neither sleep nor remain stagnant’ but must instead ‘dynamically transform to meet today’s threats and anticipate tomorrow’s’.
