Viasat developing further BLOS STT capabilities

The 7.3kg Viasat KOR-24A small tactical terminal (STT), a multi-channel radio, has Link-16 security capabilities which enable safe data and information exchanges which can be shared during theatre operations and beyond. However, the company is looking at greater beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) capabilities to enrich its usability.

Viasat is adapting its STT based on bespoke specifications from clients. Recently, the STT saw the introduction of an upgraded frequency oscillator which allows ‘STT platforms to operate beyond-line-of-sight from other Link 16 platforms’ which, in turn, aids communication in difficult terrains.
