US urged to supply Ukraine with weapons

As the Obama administration once again mulls a decision to arm the Ukrainian Army, a leading group of US policymakers has urged the West to supply Kiev with a range of military equipment to fight Russian-backed rebels.

A report released on February 2, authored by eight former senior US diplomatic and military officials, including former Supreme Allied Commander Europe James Stavridis, said Washington should urgently consult with Kiev on the provision of counter-battery radars, electronic counter-measures (ECM) and secure communications for Ukrainian troops.
