US needs to become proactive on AI and cyber threats

Proactive measures need to begin before threats posed by cyber and artificial intelligence (AI) overwhelm our ability to react to them in real-time during a crisis, according to top experts at the 17th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD), held in Singapore from 1-3 June.

Sponsored by the London-based International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), for the first time the SLD added a special session for delegates on AI and cyberwarfare: ‘New Strategic Technologies and the Future of Conflict.’ Shephard served as the only media delegate in attendance at the panel.
