UK vulnerable to cyber attack, report warns

A defence and cybersecurity report from the UK House of Commons Defence Committee has warned that military forces’ dependence on networked capabilities is so great that if systems were to be victim of a cyber attack operations could be ‘fatally compromised’.

The report, released on 9 January, stated that the acquisition plans for the best internal structures for cybersecurity are still being developed, and getting these right ‘must be a top priority’. 

‘We recommend that the MoD should report to Parliament regularly about proposed and actual changes to those structures, and improvements in delivery that come about as a result,’
