Thales unveils Searchmaster ‘5-in-1’ (video)
Thales launched its new Searchmaster multirole surveillance radar with active electronic scanning antenna (AESA) technology at the Euronaval exhibition in Paris.
Speaking to Shephard Media, Pierrick Lerey, director of strategy for ISR at Thales Airborne Systems, said the new surveillance radar had the ability to meet the surveillance requirements of five mission types: anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, maritime surveillance, ground surveillance and tactical air support.
The radar features an AESA active electronic scanning antenna based on technologies developed for the RBE2 AESA nose-mounted radar on the Rafale fighter aircraft.
