Thales launches MBITR 2 dual-channel radio

Thales has launched the second generation of its Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (MBITR) with a new simultaneous two-channel capability.

The MBITR 2 leverages the narrowband AN/PRC-148 with the wideband AN/PRC-154 into one system, and some 200,000 of the legacy version have been fielded to US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) forces, among others, to date.

‘We have a lot of interest within the conventional forces and USSOCOM for this product,’ Travis Queen, director of business development for USSOCOM, USAF, and USMC at Thales Communications, explained to Shephard. ‘We’ve had certain groups and organisations within SOCOM that have been thoroughly vetting
