SOFLE to enhance USMC access to global SOF network

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) will soon be able to exploit the Global Special Operations Network (GSN) through a proof of concept programme known as the Special Operations Forces Liaison Element (SOFLE).

As outlined during the recent West 2014 event in San Diego, California, the SOFLE concept emerged from an April 2013 agreement between Adm Bill McRaven, Commander of USSOCOM and Gen James Amos, Commandant of the USMC. Under the agreement, USSOCOM will provide a specialised team of SOF operators and enablers to deploying Marine Corps / Navy Marine Expeditionary Units / Amphibious Ready Groups (MEU/ARG).
