Singapore Airshow 2018: Growlers boost RAAF’s EW future

The RAAF is showcasing its Boeing EA-18G Growler airborne electronic attack capability in a static display at Singapore Airshow 2018, marking the first public appearance of the aircraft outside Australia.

Australia’s 12 Growlers were delivered throughout the first half of 2017 after making their debut at Avalon in March. The aircraft are in the same configuration as the USN’s latest jets, albeit with the addition of Raytheon’s ASQ-228 Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) targeting pod and AIM-9X infrared, short-range air-to-air missiles.

The Growler is operated by 6 Squadron based at Amberley and, together with the AESA radar-equipped F/A-18F
