SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, is exhibiting its latest technology as part of the Finmeccanica Group pavilion at Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2010.

As a leading supplier of mission and sensor systems, SELEX Galileo will showcase its range of airborne radar, defensive aids suites, aircraft and mission avionics for surveillance, combat and ISTAR applications in land and airborne domains.

Central to the Company's offering is its world leading AESA airborne radar technology, with system solutions that exploit this technology having been provided to customers in the UK, US, Italy and South America. On display in the static area, AgustaWestland will be displaying the Lynx Wildcat which integrates the Seaspray 7400E and the HIDAS 15 defensive aid suite selected by the UK MoD.

Another key pillar of SELEX Galileo's portfolio is its range of airborne Electro-Optic (EO) systems such as the EOST 46 four sensor turret and the VigilX system. EOST 46 has been selected for five different platforms and is displayed at FIA. VigilX is based on distributed sensor technology combined with advanced image processing algorithms. It allows pilots and flight crew to "see through the hull" of their aircraft by fusing onboard sensor data to generate a 360° panoramic integrated picture around the aircraft, providing the highest level of situational awareness.

SELEX Galileo also provides highly effective, life-saving defensive systems for fixed and rotary wing platforms, proven on operations in the harshest environments. The ground-breaking HIDAS defensive aid suite is installed on Apache helicopters in the UK, Kuwait and Greece, and the latest Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP) solution currently equips the US Army's Apache fleet.

The Company's Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance (ATOS) system, installed on more than 10 different platforms in 4 different continents, will be present at the Show in one of its most successful versions, featuring the Company's Gabbiano radar and the EOST 45 turret, currently in service on board of the Nigerian Air Force ATR42MP. The Gabbiano is a versatile, x-band, pulse doppler radar also selected as a standard fit on the AW139 helicopter.

A range of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), from mini/micro up to the tactical and medium altitude / endurance models, come fully equipped with sensors and networked capability, delivering a high degree of situational awareness and contributing to force protection within modern ISTAR solutions. The tactical UAS Falco has captured a fair amount of international attention and has been selected by two customers in the Middle East / Central East Asia markets. Leveraging on world class mission systems and sensor integration expertise, SELEX Galileo is working to position itself as one of the main players in the fast evolving and growing market of OUAS/MALE, offering state of the art bespoke avionics and mission systems to national and international platform primes.

The capability to simulate tactical scenarios and evaluate the performance of next generation sensors is provided by the SELEX Galileo Battlelab, which effectively integrates the Company's UAS solutions.

SELEX Galileo is proud of its contribution to the Eurofighter Typhoon programme, where the Company is responsible for the delivery of mission critical systems. These include the CAPTOR M-scan radar, the PRAETORIAN defensive aid suite, including innovative towed decoys, the ‘Pirate' Infrared Search and Track (IRST) and over 60 percent of the fighter's avionics suite.

SELEX Galileo computers, covering vehicle mission and flight control operations can also be found on AgustaWestland's AW101/103/129 platforms.

As partner of choice for next generation aircraft, SELEX Galileo has been selected by SAAB to develop and supply the latest generation AESA radar and IRST solutions for their Gripen NG fighter. The Company's Raven ES-05 is a wide field of regard radar system optimised for multi-role/ swing-role operations, while the Skyward G provides full operational passive and stealthy search and track detection capability.

On the highly successful Alenia Aermacchi M346 advanced jet trainer, SELEX Galileo has gained the responsibility of the complete mission core system and important components of the mission simulator. SELEX Galileo has also been selected to integrate and supply the Grifo radar for the light attack version of the M346. SELEX Galileo is fully committed to supporting Alenia Aermacchi in all international marketing campaigns and programmes.

SELEX Galileo also works closely with Northrop Grumman Corporation to deliver DIRCM transmitters that are in large scale deployment across the US Air Force fleet. More than 1200 transmitters have been delivered to date, and the partnership is now expanding to compete for emerging US requirements such as the Army's CIRCM programme.

The Company's newest situational awareness system for ground vehicles, adapted from the existing Indirect Vision System (IVS) in wide service on the UK's ground vehicle fleet including Ridgback, Mastiff and the Challenger 2, has been updated to reflect current and future operational needs. The new system incorporates a variety of additional capabilities including world class thermal imaging, integrated sniper detection and GPS navigation.

SELEX Galileo has established a dedicated Support and Service Solutions business (S3) focusing on availability contracting and contracting for capability. Working with partners at all levels of the supply chain, S3 provides affordable, combat proven, avionic support solutions to the most advanced fixed and rotary wing platforms in home markets and for export customers. This offer is complemented by other services including training, simulation and test ranges management.
