Sea Giraffe breathes down Philippines neck

Saab announced on 21 May that it was supplying two Sea Giraffe AMB naval radars to the USN for eventual installation aboard two Gregorio del Pilar-class frigates of the Philippines Navy (PN).

The AN/SPS-77 multirole 3D radars are being procured as part of a Foreign Military Sales deal between Manila and Washington. They are being funded by US military assistance aid.

The package also includes elements of Saab’s 9LV combat management system for radar control and display functions.
