SDSR defends against cyber attack

The Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) today outlined how the UK will tackle future cyber threats, which politicians have admitted are a growing threat to national security.

The government plans to spend a total of £1.9 billion by 2020 on protecting the UK against cyber attacks and developing sovereign capabilities in cyber space. This will include recruiting and training over 1,900 additional security and intelligence staff across the intelligence agencies, some of whom will be involved in combating cyber threats.

Additionally, 1.2% of the defence budget is set to be dedicated to science and technology. A new £165 million
