Raytheon expands facility for airborne radar, EW systems
Raytheon has expanded its Forest, Mississippi, facility in anticipation of growth in airborne radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems demand, as announced by the company on 8 April.
The test facility - which was expanded by 20,000 sq ft - is part of a new common test platform that Raytheon is deploying for all its EW systems. The company plans to add several new positions to keep up with orders for its active electronically scanned array fighter jet radars and Sentinel air defence radars.
Dewey Phillip Bryant, Governor of Mississippi, said: 'Today is an exciting day for Forest and the entire state of Mississippi as Raytheon officially opens its new facility. The company chose to expand here in anticipation of future growth, and now Raytheon is ready to move ahead and pursue even more opportunities and contracts.'
Fred Darlington, vice president, space and airborne systems, Raytheon, said: 'Raytheon has been part of this community's fibre for more than three decades.
'Raytheon stood by the governor's side here on Veterans Day 2013 with a pledge to add more space for our high-skill workforce, and we kept our commitment.'
