EW Singapore: Rafael orders laser designators
Elbit Systems has received two contracts worth a combined $35 million from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for the supply of airborne laser designators over a three-year period, the company announced on 3 January.
Rafael will deliver the laser designators to two undisclosed countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Elbit Systems’ laser designators have been designed with a focus on minimising size, weight and power requirements for ground and airborne systems. The laser systems will provide aircrews with precise target designation and a rapid closure of the sensor to shooter cycle.
Elad Aharonson, general manager of Elbit Systems' ISTAR division, said: ‘Elbit Systems has years of experience in developing advanced electro-optic systems including highly accurate and powerful laser designators in particular. The awarded contracts reaffirm Elbit Systems' commitment to the Asia-Pacific market and to its investments in local industries.’
