NORINCO reinforces China's borders

China’s borders are receiving high-tech protection through a newly introduced integrated C4ISR system.

The system is being provided by a subsidiary of China North Industries (NORINCO) featuring radars, electro-optical cameras, communications, image analysis tools, command-and-control suites and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

In an article published earlier this month, the China Daily quoted Mao Weichen of the Southwestern Institute of Technology and Physics in Chengdu, Sichuan Province: ‘Our system has been adopted by border defence units in Xinjiang, Tibet, Yunnan and many other regions to curb illegal border crossings and drug trafficking.’
