There are ‘significant challenges’ operating in contemporary environments, says the UK RAF ISTAR command.
The RAF had been looking forward to 12 months of ‘recuperation and regeneration’ following the redeployment from Afghanistan towards the end of 2014, Gp Capt Suraya Marshall, 2IC at the command, told a conference in London on 11 March.
However, she warned that the rise of Islamic State (IS) in Syria and northern Iraq; Russian actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine; Boko Haram in Nigeria; and the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone were forcing the RAF to adapt once again.
‘We are very poor at predicting
