Selex ES’ BriteCloud Expendable Active Decoy (EAD) has been selected by Saab for use on-board the Gripen fighter jet.

Launched on 6 November, the latest addition to the company’s family of RF decoys is a self-contained digital RF memory jammer for fast jet aircraft.

Saab will be the first to offer it as an optional EW enhancement for all Gripens, and flight tests on board the jets is expected to take place in 2014 in Sweden, which will be internally funded by Saab.

Saab’s technical director for Gripen export, Gideon Singer, told Shephard at the BriteCloud launch in London
