NATO and US connect networks in Afghanistan

NATO is on the verge of creating a common mission network, linking the US CENTRIX system with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Mission Secret Network.

Phase 1 on the project, which is being led by the NATO C3 Agency and will see the physical connection of the two networks, initially went live in October and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

This initial capability will enable cross domain chat, a common web space, voice over IP (VoIP) and email across the two networks, creating what has now been dubbed the Afghan Mission Network (AMN).
