More Japanese Hawkeyes arrive amid AEW restructure

The third and fourth E-2D Advanced Hawkeye AEW aircraft for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) arrived last month.

The pair of Northrop Grumman aircraft (bearing numbers 473 and 474) were despatched to Japan by sea. The two Advanced Hawkeyes were spotted at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni on 7 March.

After test flights they are expected to shift to Misawa Air Base in northern Honshu in Japan, where they will form part of 601 Squadron of the Airborne Warning and Control Wing.
