MILCOM 2011: GE and Juniper target land platform

GE Intelligent Platforms has joined forces with Juniper Networks to develop a family of ruggedised and secure network security appliances for military platforms, according to company executives.

Announced at the MILCOM conference in Baltimore, the joint venture centres around the RTR8GE router, designed for communications on the move. GE said it would follow up this first product with additional solutions to include both land and air domains. A spokesman said such solutions will be designed for 'harsh' environments where security of data is 'paramount'.
