Lockheed Martin looks to future of GPS

The Lockheed Martin GPS III programme has not been without its challenges.

Nevertheless, the company remains confident that it will meet the August 2016 available-for-launch date with Space Vehicle (SV) 01.

Lockheed has also detailed its intentions for the future of the GPS programme, which includes its intention to bid for future iterations of the programme.

In 2013 during testing, issues were identified with the GPS III navigation payload, provided by Harris, which ultimately delayed delivery of the GNST [GPS III Nonflight Satellite Testbed].
