Japan moves to strengthen ISR capabilities

Japan’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced a raft of C4ISR initiatives as part of its latest defence white paper in response to the ‘increasingly severe’ security environment in South-East Asia.

According to the paper, the MoD faces a series of ‘various challenges and destabilising factors, which are becoming more tangible and acute’, including territorial and reunification disputes and increases in ‘grey-zone’ situations with neighbours China and Russia.
