IAI wades into UK AWACS controversy

The increasingly public battle to determine the UK’s replacement for its E-3 AWACS fleet has drawn a number of international companies into the argument, as Boeing and its E-7 appears well-placed for the win.

The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) is currently evaluating a replacement for the AWACS fleet of the RAF, and a single-source choice looks to be favourite. 

The proposed deal would replace the UK’s six ageing E-3D Sentry with a fleet of Boeing E-7 Wedgetail jets which would, if confirmed, be worth over £2 billion ($2.6 billion).
