Gulf states get Patriot upgrades

3rd December 2015 - 09:52 GMT | by Richard Thomas in London

Raytheon say they have received an ‘extremely favourable’ reaction to the Patriot radar digital processor (RDP) upgrade, with a number of Gulf customers having already acquired the modification.

The RDP upgrade was described as a ‘partnership’ between the manufacturer and customers which was initiated after the OEM looked at modernising the system and improving reliability and reduce operations and sustainment (O&S) costs.

The company announced earlier in November they had begun to acquire RDP upgrade kits after the US Army awarded a $86 million modification to an existing contract in September in order to finish upgrading its own Patriot inventory.
