Second Global Xpress satellite goes live

Commercial satellite company Inmarsat is making waves in the military satellite world with its second Global Xpress (GX) satellite going live on 3 November.

The satellite - Inmarsat-5 F2 (I-5 F2) - covers both north and south America and is one third of the capability which will eventually provide global coverage. The first satellite went live in June 2014.

The third GX satellite that is part of the Ka-band capable constellation was launched in August 2015 and the company is hoping that following in orbit testing it will go live at the end of 2015. The live date will involve government
