German, Dutch armies look to deepen C4I integration

Cooperation between Dutch and German armies looks set to deepen further as both countries explore ways of increasing interoperability in key areas such as communications and networking.

The two countries have a long history of cooperation, principally through 1 (German/Dutch) Corp, and more recently with the Royal Netherlands Army’s 43rd Mechanized Brigade coming under the command of the German Armed Force’s 1st Panzer Division.

To further aid interoperability, the German '414' tank battalion also resides within the 43rd Mechanized Brigade, and within that battalion sits a Dutch tank company operating Leopard 2 tanks.
