First Skynet 6 contract timeline confirmed

Skynet 6A, the first contract for the emerging British SATCOM programme Skynet 6, is expected to be issued before the end of 2019, more than a year after Airbus Defence and Space (DS) was originally awarded a deal by the MoD to become its single-source supplier for the satellite partnership.

Explaining the circumstances between the delay in providing a formal contract at Global MilSatCom in London, Julian Knight, head of the networks delivery team at ISS, UK MoD, said that this had been due to the 'single-source contracts pricing regime' stipulated under MoD procurement requirements.
