In remote border areas where there are fewer landline or cell phone towers, tactical satellite interception may prove useful.

Nevertheless, satellite interception is different when compared to surface interception, according to an official at a European communications company.

On the surface a cell phone is connected to a mast and it is relatively easy to locate which one the cell phone is connected to, the official explained.
