EW Europe: Comms join jam sessions

A company specialising in electronic warfare is investigating a way to making jamming devices more multirole and able to contribute to the communications network.

A senior company official said that when military units are operating far from their bases and have to rely on a variety of radios it comes as a shock when they are jammed or obstructed in their communications by their own forces’ EW assets.

He said it is ‘disturbing’ when operating so far from base and noted that the communications link was the only connection to friendly forces. ‘You end up feeling quite alone out there
