EW Europe: BriteCloud tested with Danish F-16
Leonardo’s newest generation BriteCloud expendable active decoy is on track for initial deliveries by the end of 2017, having been tested for the first time onboard the Royal Danish Air Force’s F-16A/B.
The BriteCloud 218 was flown onboard the fighter during the first quarter of 2017 in an undisclosed European location, and while the Danish requirements for the decoy are unknown, the company is hoping to have a launch customer and kick off production by year-end.
The system decoys RF-seeking missiles and fire control radars, with the new variation fitting into a 2”x8”x1” form factor, rather than the 55mm flare
