EU SATCOM agreement on horizon

Plans for a pan-European Governmental Satellite Communications (GOVSATCOM) programme could be given the green light this month, enabling pooling and sharing of governmental satellite capacity among EU member states.

GOVSATCOM – a joint venture conceived in 2013 between the European Commission, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Defence Agency (EDA) – aims to guarantee secure, affordable and reliable access to satellite communications services to European governments in an organised and cooperative manner.
